Fred was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and cousin, he loved his family beyond measure. He enjoyed spending time with them and reminiscing the days of camping, fishing, hunting bowling, gardening, yard work and looking for that ever-elusive eye! There is nothing he wouldn’t do that didn’t involve his family in some way. His home was always open to anyone that needed a place to sit for a spell, or to lay their head for a nap. Peter was honorably discharged from the Air Force after serving for over 21 years. Prior to his retirement he enjoyed his job working for the city of Roswell. When he was blessed with grandchildren he was always there to lend a helping hand, a lap to sit in, adventures to go on whether it was to show them how to fish and baiting hooks or to grow the perfect zucchini, making the best pancakes that no one can replicate and believe me, we have tried! We were blessed to have been given advice and wisdom from him even if we didn’t want it sometimes, countless moments and memories that we will forever cherish.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 25, 2020 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel, 900 S. Main St., Roswell, NM 88203. There will be a reception following immediately after services and will be a potluck affair. Please bring your favorite covered dish. Reception will be held at 3131 S. Eisenhower Rd., Roswell, NM 88203. Fred did not want a mourning of his life but a celebration of his life. Please respect these final wishes and even though there will be lots of tears we will have lots of stories and memories to share.
His favorite passage in the bible was Psalm 23 verses 1-6:
The Lord is my Shepard, I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou annointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
