PARKER, BERNETT JAMES “B J” – Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. at LaGrone Funeral Chapel for Bernett James Parker, age 91, who passed away on May 10, 2012. Pastor Artis Allen of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church will officiate with repast to follow at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church located at 700 East Summit, Roswell.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 25, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Bernett was a resident of Roswell for 70 plus years. He is survived by his wife Gladys of 71 years; daughter: Pauline McDowell of Hanford, CA; sons: Milton Parker of Oklahoma City, Paul, Samuel, William, Orlando all of Roswell, Ronnie of Seattle, WA, Jackie of Germany; brother: Woodrow Parker of Roswell; A host of grand and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Eva Mae, sons Eddie Dean and Raymond Earl, father, Peter, mother, Adeline Parker, brothers, John, Pete, Cecil, James (Sporty), sisters, Bernice, Julie, Jessie, Cutie and Callie.
B.J. retired from Mountain Bell Phone Company after 33 years. His interest was photography. He loved having his family together at family reunions, any and all functions. He was a devoted member of Galilee Baptist Church and served faithfully as usher and treasurer for 30 plus years, until his health failed him.
